| Wood Study Behältnis is the internet space of the Wood Study Group. It is an online parking space for papers devoted to topics related to the physics and physical chemistry of wood, live trees, dendritic and self-structuring phenomena as well as for other notes and papers related to physics, mathematics and nature. It is envisioned as an informal evanescent depository to promote creativity and open-ended investigation. Informality, open-endedness (researching to understand rather than achieve some preconceived goal) and a necessary looseness, are the conditions under which new perspectives evolve. New perspectives are needed. And, here in northern Pennsylvania, there is a great deal of wood.
For it is written: It is good to attend the house of study every day.
INVITATION
Wood Study Behältnis would be happy to post papers on its subjects. It's not refereed but edited. Papers should be reasonably serious and technically correct so that it is more like a journal than a blog. Because finding new ideas is its theme, papers may be more speculative than refereed journals allow. Preferably they should incorporate a mathematical treatment of their topic. There is no prescribed limit on length, but the final version must be less than 500KB as a .pdf file. The form of citations and references should conform to discipline of the subject. Manuscripts should be submitted as .doc or as .pdf files. In the latter case they should be readable with GhostScript. The best part about Wood Study Behältnis is that being a private academic website, posting on this site, although possibly constituting public disclosure, does not constitute publication in the eyes of most journals. Papers will be removed from the site if the author(s) request it. Submit papers to the editor, me@larrylawson.net
