Musical Instruments

The simultaneous contemplation of the physics of a musical instrument with ones mind while making that instrument with ones hands is a spiritually enlightening experience. For such as Aristide Cavaille-Coll, living in the age of Cavaille-Coll, this was not merely a personal pleasure; it advanced both human culture and his fortune. As a society we are now too fearful and too occupied with sorting through the quotidian stream of signs having nugatory meaning to reach out collectively for anything really new, anything that requires learning something more than which button to push. All the more then, to the solice of the individual, I commend this pleasure.
